I had to go out of the US as my company got acquired by another company. This happened too fast and I had to give up my apartment and leave. I came back now after 2 months and got another apt, but in the process even though I had forwarded y mail to a friend I have lost a lot of mail. Unfortunately I had a small amt. of some 20$ on a store credit card. I have paid it as soon as I got here, but now it shows in my credit score.
Whats the best way to atleast try to explain that this was not intentional. I can prove I was not here by giving copies of my passport.
I am looking for samples of letters that can be written to the store / credit card company. I am not looking for people who charge you and claim to clear your credit history.
Contact your credit card company/companies. Explain to them your situation and ask them to please not report your late payment to the credit bureaus. If that does not work, threaten to cancel your card.
If you are not able to reach an agreement with the card company you can add an explanation to your credit report for that account.
The good news is that after time, the late payments will have far less effect on your credit score.
Write a "Letter of Explanation" to the individual credit reporting bureaus. Also, you may want to talk to the individual credit card companies and ask them to remove the derogatory remarks, if you give proof that you were out ofthe country. if they refuse, speak to a supervisor or someone in their credit reporting department. Follow everything up in writing. If they still refuse, you may have to bite the bullet, accept the negative remark and tell the credit company you will no longer do business with them and to close yoru accounts. .
best thing to do is calling creditor and explain they might wave late fees and try to catch in payments which will help you with your credit report and help in raise in up your score … and might no show late on report .
