I really want to use Yahoo’s own Small Business Web Hosting and Domain, but I’ve heard a bunch of horror stories about it. I mean, I know that every web hosting company has a lot of BS said about them, because SOMEBODY has to have a bad experience with a company – its just the nature of things.
But, if you recommend Yahoo, great! That means I’m on the right track. If you don’t, then what do you recommend? I need unlimited hosting and bandwidth! Thanks!

I have found GoDaddy to work well for my business. I currently host all of our email and our domain there. I also have 5 other domain names that I maintain through GoDaddy. The interface is good. The one bad part is that they constantly try to sell you other services (only when you are checking out, they don’t spam you or anything).
It is easy to accidentally buy more than you need or want.
Anything BUT GoDaddy. GoDaddy is maybe the worst internet company I’ve worked with. They have strange server settings, especially when it comes to PHP and MySQL. Many programs will require modifications if you want to use them on GoDaddy. Their servers are slow and the administration interface is not very good.
I use HostingZoom for hosting and have had pretty good luck. They don’t have domain registration though. Try IPower.com for domain names.
I agree, GoDaddy is they way to go. I’ve had some bad hosting from other companies. GoDaddy’s core business is domains and hosting so their always on top of things, plus they have great rates.
You can get hosting and a free domain from http://www.GotHosting.org. Just choose their business (or above) package and you’ll be on your way.
They’ve done well and was able to verify that, at a (neutral) review site:
http://www.web-hosting-top.com/web-hosting/web-hosting-top.gothosting.org-reviews
As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95. You can see their Plan Details accompanied with reliable reviews regarding their service at:
http://bluehost-service.atspace.com
Here I have copied and pasted its features from their website to view:
- Free Domain Forever
- Unlimited Space
- Unlimited Transfer
- Host UNLIMITED Domains (Support All Domain Names)
- 2,500 POP/Imap Email Accounts
- SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats

Orange Manta,
I would suggest not using the provider you mentioned above . For a small business type of website you want a company that will take care of your website, especially when it is representing something important as your business.
For small to mid range sized sites I build for clients I always host here: http://www.hostamina.com. The main reason I chose them is because they help me set up a lot of website software at no extra charge. This is really important because it cuts back on the technical knowledge I need! The other great thing about them is there are no contracts. My customers are free to leave when they’d like, without losing their domain or website.
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months’ time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.
Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/
They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 1500000 MB (1500 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.

More the list of BEST WEB HOSTING sites visit
http://www.nicewebhosts.com
They are award winning and have the best customer service out there, so if you need help EXPECT a fast response even through email. They also have the best set up for wordpress (which you may want to explore) I have used yahoo, and I am not a big fan of their web builders….check it out see what you think! Read reviews on all of the ones listed I gurantee you this one is the best! Last but not least the forums! People are there to answer any and everything!
http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=kierot
Definitely avoid "unlimited" space/bandwidth hosts, those are scams and unreliable. I use Hostamina.com for about 100 websites and they’ve been great! They will help you with anything, and you can get a domain there to.
I have been hosted on Lunar Pages and regretted it 2 weeks later.
I’d go for Dreamhost.. Not expensive, and extremely reliable.
Whatever hosting X you finally choose, don’t forget to google "hosting X sucks" before you signup with them.
Lunarpages, Hostmonster, etc are all good.
If you want something that don’t suck, try Justhost http://www.hostingsthatsuck.com/go/justhost.php
Read this report under the source.
Well to be completely honest with you, you could easily pick yahoo small business but can i ask you a question?…are you opening a business that you really need to pick yahoo business.
The fact is that msn and yahoo offer these web hosting services to the general public but in reality they are primarily meant to be for proper businesses. Yahoo and MSN are more expensive for starters, they also charge you for the domains which other web hosts give for free. Thirdly and most importantly you wont get the tools which other web hosts provide. These tools are essential for newbies and normal people out there to create and maintain there website. With yahoo and MSN unless your a web designer you will have difficulty doing even basic tasks. This is probably why people have such negative comments about yahoo.
If you are opening a business and are going to have a shopping cart and a list of products you are going to sell by all means go for it. I doubt you will regret it. But if your a trying to create a website for personal or general use, i would say go with a medium range web host. A web host which has newbie tools, templates, support meant for beginners and people who have basic knowledge of HTML, website builders etc etc.
One good web host which i use regularly for basic to media type of websites is http://www.webhostingpad.com/2401.html. They are very reliable and i have personally have had no problems at all with them. I learned web designing along with this web host so i am very use to its tools and methods. Every once in a while they add content so in that sense it is very good also
he bundle here is $3.96 per month and it includes

Unlimited Email Accounts
Unlimited Databases
Unlimited FTP Accounts
Free Site Builder
CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MYSQL

Google PPC $25 Credit!
Yahoo Ads $25 Credit!
Another really good one, which i use alot for more media intensive sites. (the web builder is top notch) is http://www.thinkwebhost.tk/ which has a really good bundle for $7.95. This includes:
Free Domain
Unlimited Disk Space
Unlimited Bandwith
Unlimited Websites
Unlimited Databases
Site builder and bonuses unlimited disk space
CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MYSQL
Anti Virus and SPAM Protection
And if you use this coupon which i got online you can get a 20 dollar discount. just type in THINKHOST20.
Anyways its up to you, if your really convinced with yahoo small business choice that and try it out but i would recommend you to try these two out first. Both of these hosts are really good marks my words you wont have any problems with them. At least i haven’t had any problems in over 4 years with both of these. If you need any guidance creating your website or choosing anything else. I suggest you read this page, it has some really relevant information for newbies who are starting out.
