Which Credit card is best for a student?

I want to start gaining credit and never had a credit card before, if you guys may please help me understand the whole process having a credit card, and which one is the best, in your choice? thanks.
**ok since some pplp are getting the wrong impression of my age, to fyi i just recently turned 20. I never had credit before, and I would be making a debit account soon; why did I delayed making one in the past? own issues, but I had, had a job before, and recently am getting one again. And I am going back to school.

The best credit card for a student is the one that gets shredded. It’s also not a bad idea to just use your debit card like a prepaid credit card. If you must have a credit card though you should have one with a major creditor like visa or mastercard. That’s true for everyone by the way because that stuff shows up on your credit report. It looks bad if you’re doing business with second-rate creditors. I have to say though that getting credit cards isn’t the best way to build credit. It is far more effective to use secured loans to build your credit. The way you get a secured loan is by giving a bank collateral in the same amount as the loan. For example you could put $1000 into a CD and then give them the CD as collateral for a $1000 loan, and then you would make monthly payments with the money they lent you. It’s low-risk, you make money in the end, and your credit will shine.

There’s nothing special about any credit card for students. However, you will find it nearly impossible to obtain a credit card until you turn 21. Good luck to yoU!

I know your young & well like every young person you want a credit card. its gonna be hard because of your age. i know this because im 20 and i barley was approved for a card. i apply like target, tj-maxx, if you are approved you should only buy what you can pay at the end of the month. if your credit line is $200 and you can only afford to spend $50 than that’s all you can buy. its tough but that’s how it works. treat you’re credit card like cash if you don’t have enogh to buy it don’t get it.

good luck, hope you get approved :)

One of the best card for students out there is Discover. You will have to apply for one and be careful not not apply for too many or you will get rejected. http://www.bestcreditcardratings.com/Discover
